Yup. It is true. Thanks to your hard work, we'll report having raised $2.1 million to the FEC! From our press release:

"We are so grateful to Tom's strong, statewide base of committed supporters for making this our best fundraising quarter so far," said Udall Campaign Manager Amanda Cooper. "Because of their generous support our campaign is able to knock on thousands of doors, have a strong statewide presence, and dominate the airwaves with hard-hitting TV ads. Together, we're making sure that Tom Udall's stong record of accomplishment and doing what's right for the people of New Mexico resonates throughout the state."

Heath Haussamen and NMFBIhop have more.

Mr. Udall's comments about speculators and oil companies controlling the price of oil and gasoline are inaccurate and inflamatory. There is NO evidence that what he says is the truth. He should correct the statements to reflect the truth.

If he doesn't, then one has to assume that he is a typical politician telling half truths in order to get elected.

thanks for the comment vciaglia, but we spend quite a bit of time making sure that all of our ads are true. These statements are based on sworn testimony in front of the US Senate from Oil Experts. This is from our fact sheet that we posted and distributed with the ad (you can get the full doc in PDF format here.)

FACT: Hedge funds, investment banks, and other institutional investors are now swamping oil markets. These
investors, who are seeking paper profits, not oil, are driving up oil prices by as much as $40 per barrel according to
experts, a Senate subcommittee report, oil company executives, and others. [Senate Commerce Committee, Testimony
of Mark Cooper, 6/3/08; Senate Commerce Committee, Testimony of Gerry Ramm, 6/3/08]

Thanks!
