Morning Press Clips for 08/26/08
There were a couple of storiesI wanted to post today, one about the End of Tour Rally in Las Vegas on Sunday and coverage of Tom speaking with farmers at Los Poblanos yesterday. Enjoy! Now, I need to go get some coffee...
"Udall campaigns in Las Vegas" - Las Vegas Optic
Tom Udall ended his two-week “Doing Right By New Mexico Tour” in his campaign for U.S. senator with a rally in Las Vegas.
Tour Day 13: Grand Finale Rally in Las Vegas
The "Doing Right by New Mexico Tour" officially concluded yesterday up in Las Vegas at great rally hosted by the Rialto Restaurant in Old Town. Over 200 local folks came out to meet Tom and Ben Ray Lujan, eat some AMAZING green chile stew (which I really needed because of my alergies) and posole, and hear some great music.
Tom Udall on Joe Biden's Selection as Obama's Running Mate!
Here's what Tom had to say about Joe Biden's selection as Barack Obama's running mate. He actually called our press people with the statement about 1AM Saturday morning, but your friendly, neighborhood bloggers were nestled all snug in their beds. Sorry about the delay on that.
Tour Day 10: Meeting Voters at East Picacho
This picture just about says it all.
Tom dropped by East Picacho Elementary in Las Cruces yesterday to meet folks there. Doòa Ana county does, indeed, love Tom. The cafeteria was a surprisingly good venue for one-on-one conversations, and had very interesting art on the walls.
Please Meet Our New TV Ad: Now, Tom
Well, Pearce's Washington cronies are at it again. As I am sure that you have read elsewhere, The Club for Growth has put down a sizeable buy to slam Tom on a number of things.
Naturally, since the ad is from the Club for Growth, you know it isn't exactly trustworthy (for more on the issues, take a look at LP's post).
Tour Day 3: "Los Jovenes" DWI Prevention Discussion
After heading out from Silver City, and driving through the Gila National Forest, we arrived in Reserve, NM so that Tom could talk with them about their pioneering work preventing youth DWIs. As you may have heard, Tom has spent a significant amount of time fighting DWI. He was really interested to hear from them. The video is still in the car, so here's the pictures.
They do a lot of the program in this building here, just behind the school.
Tour Day 3: Gila National Forest
Sorry for the late posting, but we've been in Catron county, and the cell service has been spotty to non-existent.
On the plus side, we had an absolutely GORGEOUS drive through the Gila National Forest.
Here's a few pictures to tide you over.
