Pearce Says He'll Fight for Big Oil... Really.
I almost sprayed my coffee over my keyboard when I read this in the LA Times this morning
"At a time when we're facing $4 gasoline, I think that you need people who've been in the energy industry to tell us what to do," said Steve Pearce, a House member from New Mexico who is running for the Senate.

Tom Udall Launches New TV Ad About High Gas Prices
A new TV ad is hitting the airwaves tomorrow. This :30 ad, entitled "Right Now" shows New Mexicans what we can do right now to bring gas prices down.
Tom Udall Speaks About Gas Prices
Bryan blogged about Tom's Gas Price Roundtable on Friday, and here is Tom speaking directly to reporters about solutions to the gas situation. Most of the time in campaigns, you don't get more than 30 seconds of time to talk, so we thought it made sense to post Tom's whole statement. You can see it after the flip and please let us know what you think in the comments below.

Gas Station Roundtable
Today Tom Udall was in Albuquerque meeting with New Mexicans affected by rising gas prices, including individuals from education, law enforcement, a local charity program, an Albuquerque working mother, postal workers, and more. He met them for a roundtable discussion at Ever-Ready Oil Co. to hear their concerns and discuss the causes, effects, and possible solutions for skyrocketing fuel costs.

It was an eyeopening experience. They told their personal stories about the various ways prices at the pump forced them to alter their lifestyles, such as having to scale back on taking their children to extracurricular activities. They also spoke about the ways it effected other aspects of our lives on a grander scale, such as the rising cost of busing children to school cutting into other educational programs (especially in rural New Mexico where bus rides can be a half an hour or more each way) and a hiring freeze on new postal workers causing mail to arrive late.

Pearce is a Pain in Your Pump.
If you're a frequent flyer, you've probably seen this letter from the CEOs of your favorite airlines (or the Teamsters) calling on Congress to punish Big Oil speculators from artificially driving up the price of fuel (and therefore the cost of your food, goods, and now airline prices).

Our Mobile Phone Gas Calculator
As Matthew points out at the Indy, gas prices in New Mexico have hit $4 a gallon.
We launched a mobile service yesterday to help you see how much the Bush Administration's broken energy policy is costing you at the pump.
Just text the word GAS and the amount you paid for gas to MyTom (#69866).
In Matt's example, you'd text "GAS $55.91".
