Help Tom Protect Public Lands

Last year, President Trump — on the advice of Interior Secretary Zinke — announced he would SHRINK the size of many national monuments and public lands.

Grand Staircase-Escalante is set to be reduced to nearly half its size. Bear’s Ear National Monument will be reduced by 85 percent.

The administration was secretive about how they came to these recommendations. Recently-uncovered email communications show that Secretary Zinke ignored evidence the lands he wants to shrink boost local economies by supporting tourism and archeological discoveries.

According to the Washington Post, Zinke and his aides “tailored their survey of protected sites to emphasize the value of logging, ranching and energy development that would be unlocked if they were not designated as national monuments.”

In other words: Zinke put the needs of big industry over the needs of our communities and our families.

Public lands are for all Americans to enjoy. There is no telling which parks or national monuments could go next. Let the Trump administration know you will fight to keep public lands in public hands. Add your name >>
