ABQ Journal: Senator calls for partnerships

Sen. Tom Udall told the Legislature on Monday that the state and federal governments should expand investment in public-private partnerships as a tool to grow the New Mexico economy.

Udall, a Democratic first-term U.S. senator from New Mexico, said those partnerships are a good investment to address critical needs in the state with the help of government.

“American innovation does not always come from the top down,” Udall said, citing examples of a University of New Mexico-based health clinic called Project ECHO, founded to help medical specialists use video conferencing to reach hepatitis C patients in rural communities across the state.
