Albuquerque Business First: NM community health centers land funds to help the uninsured

Fifteen New Mexico community health centers, including three in Albuquerque, will receive a combined $2.2 million in federal grants to help uninsured state residents get health insurance when open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act begins on Oct. 1.

The grants were issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and will help residents get insurance on the state’s health insurance exchange, according to the office of U.S. Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M.

About 20 percent of the state’s residents are uninsured, Udall said.
